Trucks for Sale in Albania: A Complete Construction Fleet for a New Airport

Building an airport is not one job, it is twenty jobs running at once. Earthworks, drainage, runway base, concrete and asphalt paving, terminal construction, fuel systems, access roads and landside works all need to progress together, and each one needs its own vehicles. If a single link in that chain is missing, the whole programme slips. At Schaften Automotive, we supply the complete fleet. From our headquarters in the Netherlands, we deliver tippers, mixers, concrete pumps, tankers, crane trucks, low-loaders and support vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO, Scania and other leading European brands, specified for the phase of work they have to serve. We arrange everything from A to Z, including delivery to your site in Albania.

More Than a Supplier: Your Sparring Partner from A to Z

An airport project has a logic of its own. In the early months you move enormous volumes of earth and rock on short internal haul roads, which is a cycle of pure availability. Then the drainage and base layers demand precision and a steady flow of aggregate. Then the paving phase arrives, when concrete and asphalt have to reach the laying point within a fixed temperature and time window, and a late truck is not an inconvenience but a rejected section. Meanwhile the terminal, the tower and the technical buildings need cranes, pumps and deliveries that cannot wait.

Albania adds its own conditions. Coastal sites such as the Vlora plain combine salt air with humidity, hot dry summers and heavy winter rain that turns a working platform into mud. The routes from the ports at Durrës and Vlora and from the interior run through mountains with steep gradients and narrow sections, which limits what you can move and when.

That is why we don’t start from a catalogue. We start by understanding your programme: the phases, the volumes, the cycle times, the paving method, the site layout and the access routes. Based on that, we help you build a fleet where the pieces match each other, so your mixers feed your pump at the right rate and your tippers match your crusher and paver output. Once you have decided, we take care of the rest: bodybuilding, documentation, customs support and delivery to site. You have one point of contact for the entire fleet.

The Fleet, Phase by Phase

Earthworks and Site Preparation

  • 8x4 and 6x4 tippers in wear-resistant steel for topsoil, rock, fill and spoil, specified for short internal cycles rather than road haulage.
  • Tractor units with tipping or walking floor trailers for material brought in from quarries off site.
  • Water tankers for compaction and for dust control on haul roads in the dry season.
  • Low-loaders for moving excavators, dozers, graders and rollers between fronts.
  • Fuel bowsers and lube trucks so plant is serviced where it works.

Drainage, Base Layers and Utilities

  • Tippers and aggregate trailers feeding the base and sub-base at the rate your paver demands.
  • Truck-mounted cranes for pipes, chambers, precast elements and culverts.
  • Flatbeds and dropside trucks for reinforcement, formwork, cable drums and materials.
  • Hooklift and skip systems for waste, spoil and material handling across a large site.

Runway Concrete and Asphalt Paving

  • Truck mixers matched in capacity and number to your batching plant and pour rate.
  • Truck-mounted concrete pumps for aprons, structures, foundations and drainage works.
  • Bulk cement tankers for silo supply to the on-site batching plant.
  • Insulated and thermo tipper bodies for asphalt, so the mix reaches the paver within the temperature window.
  • Bitumen tankers and sprayers for tack and prime coats.

Terminal, Tower and Technical Buildings

  • Concrete pumps and mixers for the structural works.
  • Crane trucks and flatbeds for steel, cladding, glazing and equipment deliveries.
  • Compact distribution trucks for the fit-out phase, when access is tight and deliveries are frequent.

Site Support and Logistics

  • Mobile workshops with crane, generator, compressor and parts storage.
  • Crew transport for moving teams across a large site.
  • Road sweepers and cleaning units to keep public roads clean at the site exits, which on an airport project is usually a condition of your permits.
  • Refuse and service vehicles for camp and site facilities.

Why Buy the Fleet from One Supplier

On a project of this size, the purchasing itself becomes a risk. Chasing a tipper from one dealer, a mixer from another and a pump from a third means three sets of lead times, three specifications that may not match and three parties to chase when something slips. We bring it together:

  • one specification exercise, so the fleet is balanced and the vehicles work as a system;
  • one planning, aligned with your construction programme and phased so you are not paying for vehicles months before you need them;
  • one proposal and one point of contact for the whole fleet;
  • one delivery chain, including bodybuilding, documentation, customs support and transport to site;
  • continuity, because we stay available for additions, replacements and the next project.

Specified for Albanian Conditions

We adapt the fleet to where it will work:

  • corrosion protection for coastal sites, where salt air attacks bodies, frames and electrics;
  • cooling and filtration for hot, dusty summers on an open construction site;
  • traction and ground clearance for wet winter ground and unfinished platforms;
  • engine braking and gradeability for the mountain routes between the ports, the quarries and the site;
  • wheelbase and turning circle suited to narrow access roads and congested working areas;
  • emission class, chosen with the Albanian import requirements and your client’s expectations in mind;
  • serviceability, with component choices for which parts and support are realistically available.

Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO, Scania & More

Our range covers the leading European commercial vehicle brands:

  • Mercedes-Benz: the Arocs for construction work, the Actros for haulage and the Atego for lighter site duties.
  • MAN: the TGS and TGX, with strong drivetrains for heavy work.
  • IVECO: the X-Way, T-Way, S-Way and Eurocargo, covering the full range from site to road.
  • Scania: a popular choice for haulage and heavy transport.

Other brands are available on request. Albania drives on the right, so European left-hand-drive vehicles are a natural fit, and the major European brands are represented in Albania and the wider region with service networks. Our stock of European A-brand vehicles changes continuously, which means we can often offer short lead times, and because we also source through our European network, we can assemble a mixed fleet rather than only what happens to be on one yard.

How We Arrange Your Fleet from A to Z

Step 1: Consultation and Programme Review

We go through your construction programme with you: phases, volumes, cycle times, paving method, batching capacity, site layout and access routes. As your sparring partner, we point out where a fleet is unbalanced, where a specification will cost you cycle time, and where you can get more out of fewer vehicles.

Step 2: Fleet Proposal and Configuration

We put together a fleet proposal with the right mix of vehicles, specifications, phasing and pricing. Where bodies are needed, we specify them with our European bodybuilders. Before you commit, we check with you which Albanian import and registration requirements apply.

Step 3: Bodybuilding and Technical Preparation

Tipper bodies, mixers, tanks, pumps and crane installations are built by specialised European bodybuilders, following the chassis manufacturer’s guidelines. We oversee quality and planning across the whole fleet and keep you informed as units are completed.

Step 4: Export Documentation and Customs Support

We prepare the export declaration and transport documents and supply the vehicle documents and, where applicable, the European Certificate of Conformity. We also provide proof of EU origin where it applies, which can reduce import duties under the agreement between the European Union and Albania. We coordinate with your customs agent so clearance runs smoothly.

Step 5: Delivery to Albania

Because Albania can be reached overland from the European Union, vehicles are normally delivered by road, driven on temporary export plates or carried on a truck transporter. Where it suits the vehicle or the schedule better, we can arrange sea transport to Durrës or Vlora. We phase deliveries to match your programme and keep you informed until each unit arrives.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trucks for Sale in Albania

  • Yes. That is exactly the kind of work we are set up for. For an airport project we can supply tippers, truck mixers, concrete pumps, bulk cement tankers, bitumen and water tankers, low-loaders, crane trucks, flatbeds, hooklift units, fuel and lube trucks, mobile workshops and crew vehicles. We draw on our own stock and on our European network, and we have the bodies built to your specification. Just as important, we help you balance the fleet so the vehicles work together instead of being a collection of separate purchases.

  • Yes, within limits. Albania applies age and emission requirements to imported vehicles, and for used buses and trucks the rules have been stricter than for cars, with a maximum age and a minimum emission class. Newly imported vehicles are expected to meet a higher emission standard. Because these requirements have been adjusted several times, we check the current rules for the specific vehicles in your fleet before you commit, together with you and your customs agent. This is one of the advantages of working with us: we would rather tell you in advance than let a vehicle be refused at the border.

  • Albania is reachable overland from the European Union, so vehicles are usually delivered by road, either driven on temporary export plates or carried on a truck transporter. Depending on the vehicle, the quantity and your schedule, sea transport to Durrës or Vlora can also be an option. We plan the deliveries in phases that match your construction programme, so you are not storing idle vehicles on site for months before they are needed.

  • You will normally need a commercial invoice, transport documents, the export declaration and the vehicle documents, with the European Certificate of Conformity where available. Vehicles of European Union origin may qualify for reduced or zero import duty under the agreement between the European Union and Albania, provided a valid proof of origin such as an EUR.1 is supplied. Import duty, VAT and registration requirements then apply locally. We prepare the export paperwork and the origin documentation and coordinate with your customs agent.

  • Yes, and we recommend it. An airport project does not need its paving fleet on day one, and it does not need its earthmoving fleet still standing on site during the fit-out phase. We build the delivery schedule around your programme, so each group of vehicles arrives when the work starts and your capital is not tied up earlier than necessary. We also stay available during the project for additional units, replacements or changes as your programme evolves.
