Trucks for Sale in Azerbaijan: Heavy 6x6 Tractor Units and Fuel Tankers for Oil and Gas

Looking for reliable heavy vehicles for an oil and gas project in Azerbaijan? You might move drilling equipment and modules between the Baku supply bases and a site inland, haul oversized loads along the pipeline corridor towards the Georgian border, or need fuel tankers that keep rigs, generators and plant running in the semi-desert of the Gobustan and Salyan steppe. In each case, Schaften Automotive is your European partner for trucks, commercial vehicles and complete fleet solutions. From our headquarters in the Netherlands, we supply heavy 6x6 tractor units and fuel tankers from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO and other leading European brands, with tanks and equipment built to your specifications. We arrange everything from A to Z, including delivery to your base in Azerbaijan.

More Than a Supplier: Your Sparring Partner from A to Z

Azerbaijan asks two very different things of a vehicle. On the Absheron peninsula and around the Caspian, you have salt air, humidity and the fine, abrasive dust of the semi-desert, with summer temperatures that push cooling systems hard. Inland and towards the west, the terrain changes to steppe and then to the foothills of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus, where routes climb and winters bring frost and snow. Yard and location work adds its own demands: slow manoeuvring with heavy loads, long idling, soft or unprepared ground and limited space to position a vehicle.

On top of that, oil and gas work is unforgiving on specification. A tractor unit that is marginal on traction will lose a day waiting for a tow. A fuel tanker that is not built to the standard your operator accepts will not pass the gate, however good the chassis underneath it is.

That is why we don’t start from a catalogue. We start by understanding your operation: the loads you move, the routes and ground conditions between your bases and locations, the products you carry, the HSE standard your operator applies and the maintenance capacity you have. Based on that, we advise you on drivetrain, traction, braking, cooling, filtration, tank specification and safety equipment. Once you have made your choice, we take care of the rest: bodybuilding, export documentation, certification support, customs support and delivery. You have one point of contact for the entire process.

Heavy 6x6 Tractor Units: Traction Where It Matters

A 6x6 tractor unit drives all three axles. For oil and gas work that is not a refinement, it is the difference between arriving and being stuck. Unprepared access tracks, soft ground around a location, wet clay after rain and loose sand in the semi-desert all punish a road-biased tractor pulling a heavy trailer.

What They Do

  • Rig moves and drilling equipment transport between locations, with the pulling power and traction to work off the sealed network.
  • Module, vessel and structure transport from fabrication yards and the Baku supply bases to sites inland.
  • Heavy and oversized loads on multi-axle and low-bed trailers, including pipeline sections and plant.
  • Pipeline corridor logistics along the east to west axis, where loads leave the main road and work along the right of way.
  • Recovery and support, because on a heavy move the unit that can pull another vehicle out is worth having on site.

How We Specify the Tractor Unit

  • Engine power and torque matched to your trailer weights and the gradients you work on, not just to a nominal gross combination weight.
  • Axle configuration, ratios and crawler gearing for pulling away loaded on soft or sloping ground.
  • Differential locks and tyre choice for sand, clay, gravel and snow.
  • Reinforced frame, fifth wheel and towing equipment for heavy and recovery work.
  • Cooling and filtration for sustained high loads in heat and abrasive dust.
  • Cab specification for long shifts and for crews who stay out at a location.

We supply 6x6 tractor units such as the Mercedes-Benz Actros, Arocs and Zetros, the MAN TGS and the IVECO T-Way, configured for the work rather than sold off a shelf.

Fuel Tankers for Rigs, Camps and Plant

Nothing on a location works without fuel. Fuel tankers are among the hardest working vehicles in any oil and gas operation, running between terminals, bases, rigs, generators and camps on a cycle that rarely stops.

What We Supply

  • Road fuel tankers on rigid chassis or as tractor and tank semi-trailer combinations, for bulk deliveries between terminals and bases.
  • Off-road refuelling units on 6x6 or 4x4 chassis, for taking diesel directly to rigs, generators and plant where a road tanker cannot go.
  • Multi-compartment tankers for carrying different grades in one trip.
  • Lubrication and service tankers with oils, greases, reels and pumping equipment.
  • Water tankers for drilling operations, dust control and camp supply.
  • Vacuum and waste units for tank cleaning, sump work and spill response.

How We Specify the Tank

The tank is what makes the vehicle acceptable on site, so we specify it carefully with our European tank builders:

  • capacity, compartments and baffles matched to the chassis, to local weight limits and to the surge you get on uneven ground;
  • materials and coatings suited to diesel, aviation fuel or other products, with corrosion protection for the Caspian climate;
  • pumps, meters, hoses and reels matched to your delivery points, with couplings compatible with your existing equipment;
  • safety equipment including emergency shut-off, earthing, overfill protection, spill containment, fire extinguishers and reflective marking;
  • certification for the carriage of dangerous goods according to the requirements that apply to your operation, so the vehicle is accepted at the gate.

Specified for the Caspian Climate and Inland Conditions

We adapt the vehicle to where it will actually work:

  • corrosion protection for salt air on the Absheron peninsula and along the Caspian coast;
  • air filtration in multiple stages with pre-cleaners for fine semi-desert dust;
  • cooling for sustained heavy loads in high summer temperatures;
  • cold weather equipment such as engine and fuel heaters and a parking heater, for winter work inland and in the foothills;
  • traction and ground clearance for soft ground, sand and unprepared access tracks;
  • engine braking for loaded descents on routes into and out of the Caucasus foothills;
  • operator HSE standards including beacons, cameras, speed management, fire suppression and markings, which differ per operator and are worth agreeing before anything is ordered;
  • serviceability, with component choices for which parts and support are realistically available.

Beyond Oil and Gas: Other Work in Azerbaijan

Many of our customers work across several sectors. Alongside 6x6 tractor units and fuel tankers, we can arrange:

  • tippers and construction vehicles for access roads, pads, infrastructure and civil works;
  • crane trucks, low-loaders and heavy haulage units for moving plant and equipment;
  • mobile workshops and service trucks for maintenance crews at remote locations;
  • tractor units for international haulage along the Middle Corridor between Europe, the Caspian and Central Asia;
  • tankers for fuel distribution to filling stations and industrial customers;
  • refrigerated and distribution trucks for food supply to camps, towns and the retail network.

Because we deliver everything through one point of contact, you can combine several vehicle types in one order and one planning.

Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO & More

Our range covers the leading European commercial vehicle brands:

  • Mercedes-Benz: the Actros and Arocs for heavy haulage and site work, and the Zetros for extreme off-road conditions.
  • MAN: the TGS and TGX, with strong drivetrains and all-wheel-drive configurations for heavy work.
  • IVECO: the T-Way and X-Way, built for demanding on and off road operations.
  • Scania: a popular choice for heavy haulage and long-distance work.

Other brands are available on request. Azerbaijan drives on the right, so European left-hand-drive vehicles are a natural fit. Not sure which configuration suits your operation best? We compare the options with you objectively, based on your loads, routes, budget and service requirements.

How We Arrange Your Purchase from A to Z

Step 1: Consultation and Operational Requirements

We discuss your bases and locations, the loads you move, route and ground conditions, the products you carry, your operator’s HSE standard, weight limits and budget. As your sparring partner, we translate these into clear technical requirements for chassis, tank and equipment.

Step 2: Selection and Configuration

We select suitable 6x6 chassis and tanker configurations and specify them with our bodybuilders and tank builders. You receive a clear proposal with specifications, pricing and planning. Before you commit, we check with you which import, certification and registration requirements apply.

Step 3: Bodybuilding and Technical Preparation

The tank, refuelling system or heavy haulage equipment is built and mounted by specialised European partners, following the chassis manufacturer’s guidelines. We oversee quality and planning and can arrange an inspection or share progress photos before completion.

Step 4: Documentation, Certification and Compliance

We prepare the export declaration and transport documents and supply the vehicle documents and the European Certificate of Conformity, which is the basis for the conformity certification your importer needs. For tankers we also supply the certification relating to the carriage of dangerous goods. We check every order against the applicable European export rules, and we coordinate with your customs broker so clearance runs smoothly.

Step 5: Transport and Delivery to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan has no open sea access, so vehicles reach the country overland or across the Caspian. In practice that usually means road transport through Europe, Turkey and Georgia to Azerbaijan. Depending on the vehicle and your schedule, shipping to a Georgian port followed by road transport is also an option. We choose the route with you and keep you informed until each unit arrives.

Ready to Strengthen Your Fleet in Azerbaijan?

You may need one tanker or a complete fleet of tractor units and support vehicles for a drilling campaign or a pipeline project. Either way, Schaften Automotive is ready to help. Tell us about your operation and our specialists will advise you personally and prepare a tailored proposal, with no obligation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trucks for Sale in Azerbaijan

  • We supply all-wheel-drive chassis from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO and other leading European brands, including the Actros, Arocs and Zetros, the MAN TGS and the IVECO T-Way, in 6x6 configurations. We combine these with fuel tanks on rigid chassis or as tank semi-trailers, off-road refuelling units, multi-compartment tankers, lubrication and service units, water tankers and vacuum systems, built by specialised European manufacturers. We advise you on the combination that fits your loads, your routes and your operator’s requirements best.

  • We start from the actual trailer weights and the gradients and ground conditions you work on, rather than from a nominal gross combination weight. From there we look at engine power and torque, axle ratios and crawler gearing for pulling away loaded on soft or sloping ground, differential locks and tyre choice, and a reinforced frame, fifth wheel and towing equipment for heavy and recovery work. We also look at cooling and filtration for sustained high loads in heat and dust. We discuss your specific moves before we specify anything.

  • A tanker has to satisfy two sets of requirements: the legal requirements for carrying dangerous goods, and the standard your operator applies before a vehicle is allowed on location. We have tanks built by specialised European manufacturers and supply the certification relating to the carriage of dangerous goods. For the operator requirements, such as emergency shut-off, overfill protection, earthing, fire suppression, cameras and markings, we ask you for the vehicle standard that applies to your contract and build to it. That avoids the expensive situation of a new tanker that cannot pass the gate.

  • Azerbaijan has no open sea access, so vehicles arrive overland. In practice that means road transport through Europe, Turkey and Georgia, or shipping to a Georgian port followed by road transport. For the import itself you will need a commercial invoice, transport documents, the export declaration, the vehicle documents and a certificate of origin. Your importer needs conformity certification before the vehicle can be registered, and the European Certificate of Conformity is the basis for that. Import duty, VAT and other charges apply locally. We check the current requirements with you and your customs broker before you commit.

  • Absolutely. We regularly supply multiple vehicles for operators and service contractors. We help you plan the right mix of 6x6 tractor units, fuel and water tankers, refuelling units, mobile workshops, crane trucks, low-loaders and crew vehicles. We align delivery with your campaign schedule and coordinate bodybuilding, certification, documentation and transport for the whole fleet. You have one point of contact throughout, and we remain available for fleet expansions or follow-up orders.
