Trucks for Sale in Iraq: Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO & More

Looking for reliable trucks for sale in Iraq? You might run a transport company in Baghdad, support oil field operations around Basra, or need a fleet of tippers for a housing or road project in Erbil or Mosul. In each case, Schaften Automotive is your European partner for trucks, commercial vehicles and complete fleet solutions. From our headquarters in the Netherlands, we supply Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO, Scania and other leading European brands to customers throughout Iraq, from Baghdad and Basra to Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Mosul and Kirkuk. We arrange everything from A to Z, so you receive a truck that is ready for work.

More Than a Supplier: Your Sparring Partner from A to Z

Buying a truck for Iraq involves more than choosing a brand. In summer, temperatures in Basra and Baghdad regularly rise above 50°C, and dust storms can reduce visibility and clog filters within hours. In the Kurdistan Region, mountain roads bring steep climbs and snow in winter. Iraq also has strict rules on the model year and conformity of imported vehicles. The axle configuration, engine, cooling, filtration, body and paperwork all make the difference. That is why we start by understanding your operation: what you transport, which routes you drive and how intensively your vehicles are used. Based on that, we advise you on the configuration that gives you the best value over the long term.

Once you have made your choice, we take care of the rest. That includes custom bodybuilding, technical modifications, export documentation, pre-shipment conformity requirements and transport to Iraq by sea or by road. You have one point of contact for the entire process, so you can focus on your business while we handle the details. Our stock of European A-brand trucks changes continuously, which means we can often offer short lead times.

Which Trucks Does Iraq Need? Solutions per Sector

Iraq has some of the largest oil reserves in the world and is investing heavily in reconstruction, infrastructure, electricity and water supply. Together with logistics and agriculture, these sectors create strong demand for commercial vehicles. Below you'll find the truck types our customers in Iraq ask for most often.

Oil & Gas: Trucks for Basra, Kirkuk and the Kurdistan Region

Oil is the backbone of the Iraqi economy. Most production comes from the giant fields around Basra, such as Rumaila, West Qurna and Majnoon, with further activity around Kirkuk and in the Kurdistan Region. Oil field operations need robust vehicles that work in extreme heat, sand and dust. For pipe, rig and equipment transport, we supply heavy-duty 6x4 and 6x6 tractor units such as the Mercedes-Benz Actros and MAN TGS. We also supply crane trucks, vacuum trucks, fuel and water tankers, and all-wheel-drive vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz Zetros for desert tracks.

Construction and Reconstruction: Housing, Roads and the Development Road

Reconstruction in cities such as Mosul, new residential cities around Baghdad, and projects such as the Grand Faw Port and the Development Road towards the Turkish border create strong demand for construction vehicles. This demand covers 8x4 and 6x4 tippers such as the Mercedes-Benz Arocs, MAN TGS and IVECO X-Way or T-Way. It also covers concrete mixers, bulk cement tankers, low-loaders for excavators and wheel loaders, and truck-mounted cranes. We configure these vehicles for intensive use on building sites in heat and dust.

Logistics and Distribution: Umm Qasr, Baghdad and the Northern Border Routes

Most seaborne goods enter Iraq through the port of Umm Qasr near Basra, while large volumes also arrive by road from Turkey through the Kurdistan Region. From there, goods travel along long highways to Baghdad and the other provinces. These routes call for reliable tractor units with good fuel economy, strong cooling and comfortable cabins, such as the Scania R-series, MAN TGX, Mercedes-Benz Actros and IVECO S-Way. For urban distribution in Baghdad, Basra and Erbil, we supply medium-duty trucks such as the IVECO Eurocargo, MAN TGM and Mercedes-Benz Atego, which combine payload with manoeuvrability in busy traffic.

Agriculture and Food: Grain, Dates and the Cold Chain

Wheat and barley are grown mainly in the north, around Nineveh and in the Kurdistan Region, while the south is known for its date palms. Iraq also imports large volumes of food. Keeping products fresh in summer temperatures above 50°C requires refrigerated trucks with powerful cooling units. These sectors also need grain trucks, tippers and curtainsiders. We supply the chassis and have the right body built to your specifications.

Electricity, Water and Municipal Services

Iraq is investing in its power grid, water treatment and municipal services. Utility companies and municipalities need crane trucks for work on power lines and substations, water tankers for supply in areas with shortages, refuse trucks and service vehicles. For work on remote installations and pipelines, we supply 4x4 trucks and all-wheel-drive vehicles. We supply the chassis and have the right body built to your specifications.

Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO, Scania & More

Our range covers the leading European commercial vehicle brands:

  • Mercedes-Benz: the Actros, Arocs, Atego and off-road Zetros, known for their durability.
  • MAN: the TGX, TGS, TGM and TGL, with strong drivetrains for heavy work.
  • IVECO: the S-Way, X-Way, T-Way, Eurocargo and Daily, covering everything from light vans to heavy construction trucks.
  • Scania: a popular choice for long-distance transport.

Other brands are available on request. Iraq drives on the right and does not allow right-hand-drive vehicles, so European left-hand-drive trucks are the natural choice. Not sure which brand or model suits your operation best? We compare the options with you objectively, based on your application, budget and service requirements.

Configured and Built for Iraqi Conditions

Extreme heat, dust storms, desert roads and mountain routes in the north put extra strain on any vehicle. We help you choose the right specifications, including:

  • heavy-duty air filtration with pre-cleaners against sand and fine dust;
  • an upgraded cooling system and powerful air conditioning for summer temperatures above 50°C;
  • a retarder or strong engine brake for mountain roads in the Kurdistan Region;
  • the right axle configuration, suspension and tyres for your loads and routes;
  • an engine configuration suited to local diesel quality.

Through our network of European bodybuilders, we can deliver tippers, tankers, refrigerated bodies, crane installations and other specialised builds. Your truck leaves Europe fully prepared for the job it has to do in Iraq.
