Trucks for Sale in Kosovo: 8x4 Tippers and Hooklift Trucks for Waste Management and Infrastructure

Looking for reliable vehicles for waste collection or a construction project in Kosovo? You might run a municipal waste company serving Pristina or Prizren, move aggregates and fill on a motorway section, clear construction and demolition waste from an urban redevelopment, or supply a quarry operation in the hills. In each case, Schaften Automotive is your European partner for trucks, commercial vehicles and complete fleet solutions. From our headquarters in the Netherlands, we supply 8x4 tippers and hooklift trucks from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO and other leading European brands, with bodies and systems built to your specifications. We arrange everything from A to Z, including delivery to your yard in Kosovo.

More Than a Supplier: Your Sparring Partner from A to Z

Kosovo is a small country with a lot going on at once. Motorways, ring roads, rail rehabilitation, water and sewerage networks, urban redevelopment and the energy transition are all competing for the same fleets and the same crews. At the same time, waste management is modernising fast, with landfills, transfer stations, recycling and separate collection all developing under pressure from European standards. That puts a specific kind of demand on vehicles: they have to do several different jobs, they have to work in tight urban streets as well as on open construction sites, and they have to earn their keep every single day because very few operators here can afford a vehicle that sits idle.

The conditions add to it. Winters bring snow, ice and salt, summers bring heat and dust, and much of the country is hilly or mountainous, with narrow village roads and steep access to quarries, landfills and construction fronts. A truck specified for flat Western European distribution is not the same truck you want climbing out of a valley with a full load of demolition waste.

That is why we don’t start from a catalogue. We start by understanding your operation: what you carry, where you collect and discharge, the routes and gradients in between, how many different jobs the same vehicle has to cover, and what your workshop can realistically maintain. Based on that, we advise you on chassis, body, system and equipment. Once you have decided, we take care of the rest: bodybuilding, documentation, customs support and delivery. You have one point of contact for the entire process.

8x4 Tippers: Payload for Infrastructure and Bulk Waste

An 8x4 has two steering front axles and two driven rear axles. That gives you a higher permitted gross weight and more payload within the legal axle limits, with the traction to climb a loaded ramp and the stability to work on uneven ground.

What They Do

  • Earthworks and fill on motorway, ring road and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Aggregates and base material from quarries and crushing plants to the alignment.
  • Construction and demolition waste from urban sites to landfill, sorting and recycling facilities.
  • Excavated material from utility, water and sewerage works in and around towns.
  • Bulk and landfill operations, including cover material and internal haulage.
  • Winter maintenance, where the same chassis carries a gritting body and plough outside the construction season.

How We Specify the Tipper Body

  • Wear-resistant steel with floor and side thickness matched to rock, rubble, aggregate or soil.
  • Body volume matched to the density of what you actually carry, because a body sized for soil is the wrong body for rubble and the wrong body for light waste.
  • Release characteristics for sticky material such as wet clay and mixed demolition waste.
  • Reinforced subframes and hydraulics for a continuous duty cycle.
  • Stability and centre of gravity, which matters on sloping ground, landfill surfaces and cambered rural roads.
  • Protection of lights, air lines and wiring against rubble, salt and dust.

We supply 8x4 chassis such as the Mercedes-Benz Arocs, the MAN TGS and the IVECO X-Way or T-Way, with heavy-duty suspension, the right gearing for loaded climbs and a retarder or strong engine brake for descents.

Hooklift Trucks: One Chassis, Many Jobs

For an operator with a limited fleet, the hooklift is one of the most efficient vehicles you can buy. One chassis, several interchangeable containers, and the truck changes job in minutes instead of standing idle while the work changes.

What a Hooklift Fleet Can Do

  • Waste collection and transport with open containers, closed containers and compactor containers.
  • Transfer station and landfill work, moving full containers out and empties back.
  • Recycling and separate collection, with dedicated containers for different fractions.
  • Construction and demolition waste from sites where a skip stays in place for days.
  • Tipper work with a tipping container, so the same chassis does bulk haulage when there is no container work.
  • Tank and water containers for site supply, street cleaning and dust control.
  • Flatbed containers for equipment, pipes, barriers and materials.
  • Winter service, with a gritting container mounted for the season.

How We Specify the Hooklift System

  • Lifting capacity and hook height matched to the containers you already own, because a system that does not fit your existing stock is money wasted.
  • Container standards and dimensions, specified so your fleet stays interchangeable as it grows.
  • Chassis configuration, from a compact 4x2 for urban collection to a 6x4 or 8x4 for heavy containers and site work.
  • Sliding or fixed hook arrangement, depending on whether you need to work in confined spaces or under height restrictions.
  • Additional equipment such as container locking, tipping function, sheeting systems, rear cameras and working lights.
  • Trailer options, including a hooklift trailer to move two containers per trip on longer hauls.

We supply hooklift chassis across the range, from the IVECO Eurocargo and Mercedes-Benz Atego class for urban work to the Arocs, MAN TGS and IVECO X-Way for heavy containers.

Why Tippers and Hooklifts Work Well Together

Most operators in Kosovo do more than one kind of work, and the two vehicle types complement each other. The tippers handle continuous bulk movement where volume and cycle time decide your output. The hooklifts handle everything that arrives in containers, waits on site or changes from one week to the next. Together they let a modest fleet cover waste collection, construction haulage, site clearance and seasonal work without buying a specialised vehicle for each job.

We go through this balance with you before anything is ordered: how many vehicles you really need, how many containers per hooklift makes sense, and where a hooklift replaces two single-purpose trucks.

Specified for Kosovo

We adapt the vehicles to where they will work:

  • gradients: engine power, axle ratios and engine braking for loaded climbs and descents on hilly routes;
  • manoeuvrability: wheelbase, overhang and turning circle for narrow urban streets, village roads and confined collection points;
  • winter: cold-start provisions, a parking heater, suitable tyres, chain provision and corrosion protection against road salt;
  • dust and summer heat: effective air filtration and cooling capacity for open sites and landfill work;
  • durability: reinforced components for poor road surfaces and unfinished site access;
  • emission class: chosen with the local import requirements and your client’s or municipality’s expectations in mind;
  • serviceability: component choices for which parts and support are realistically available, and a specification your own workshop can maintain.

Beyond Tippers and Hooklifts: The Rest of the Fleet

Through the same point of contact we can also arrange:

  • refuse collection vehicles with rear or side loading for household and commercial collection;
  • skip loaders for smaller containers and tight urban access;
  • street sweepers and cleaning units for municipal work;
  • truck mixers, concrete pumps and cement tankers for construction projects;
  • water tankers, fuel and lube trucks and mobile workshops for site support;
  • truck-mounted cranes, flatbeds and low-loaders for materials and plant movement;
  • tractor units and tipping trailers for longer haulage between quarries, projects and disposal sites.

Because we deliver everything through one point of contact, you can combine several vehicle types in one order and one planning, phased to match your budget or your project programme.

Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO & More

Our range covers the leading European commercial vehicle brands:

  • Mercedes-Benz: the Arocs for heavy site work and the Atego for urban and municipal duties.
  • MAN: the TGS for construction work and the TGM for collection and distribution.
  • IVECO: the X-Way and T-Way for site work and the Eurocargo for urban operations.
  • Scania: a popular choice for heavy haulage and construction.

Other brands are available on request. Kosovo drives on the right and uses the euro, and European vehicles are well established in the market. Not sure which configuration suits your work best? We compare the options with you objectively, based on your routes, your material and your service capability.

How We Arrange Your Purchase from A to Z

Step 1: Consultation and Operational Review

We discuss your collection rounds or project programme, the material you move, your routes and gradients, your existing containers, your workshop capacity and your budget. As your sparring partner, we point out where a hooklift replaces two vehicles and where a specification will cost you cycle time.

Step 2: Selection and Configuration

We select suitable chassis from our stock or through our European network and specify the tipper bodies and hooklift systems with our bodybuilders, matched to the containers you already own. You receive a clear proposal with specifications, pricing and planning. Before you commit, we check with you which import and registration requirements apply.

Step 3: Bodybuilding and Technical Preparation

Tipper bodies, hooklift systems, containers and additional equipment are built and mounted by specialised European bodybuilders, following the chassis manufacturer’s guidelines. We oversee quality and planning and can arrange an inspection or share progress photos before completion.

Step 4: Export Documentation and Customs Support

We prepare the export declaration and transport documents and supply the vehicle documents and, where applicable, the European Certificate of Conformity. We also provide proof of EU origin where it applies, which can reduce import duties under the agreement between the European Union and Kosovo. We coordinate with your customs agent so clearance runs smoothly.

Step 5: Delivery to Kosovo

Kosovo is landlocked but reachable overland from the European Union, so vehicles are normally delivered by road, driven on temporary export plates or carried on a truck transporter. Where it suits the vehicle or the schedule better, sea transport to Durrës or Thessaloniki with onward road transport is an option. We phase deliveries to match your programme and keep you informed until each unit arrives.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trucks for Sale in Kosovo

  • We supply chassis from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO and other leading European brands, from the Eurocargo and Atego class for urban work up to the Arocs, MAN TGS and IVECO X-Way and T-Way for heavy site work. We combine these with tipper bodies in wear-resistant steel and with hooklift systems in a range of lifting capacities, plus containers, tipping containers, compactor containers, tanks and flatbeds. We advise you on the combination that fits your work and your existing equipment best.

  • That is exactly the question to ask before you buy, and it is where a lot of money gets wasted. Hooklift systems differ in hook height, lifting capacity and container dimensions, and a system that does not match your existing stock means either new containers or a vehicle that cannot work with half your fleet. We ask for the specifications of your current containers at the start and match the system to them, or advise you deliberately to standardise on a different arrangement if your existing stock is at the end of its life anyway.

  • Sometimes it is, and we will say so. An 8x4 pays for itself when you move dense material such as rock, rubble and aggregate, where payload within the axle limits decides your cost per tonne. For lighter waste, urban collection and work where access matters more than volume, a 6x4 or even a 4x2 is often the better buy, with lower running costs and far better manoeuvrability. We go through your actual loads and routes with you and give you a straight answer rather than selling you axles you do not need.

  • Kosovo is landlocked but reachable overland from the European Union, so vehicles are usually delivered by road, either driven on temporary export plates or carried on a truck transporter. Sea transport to Durrës or Thessaloniki with onward road transport is an alternative. For the import you will need a commercial invoice, transport documents, the export declaration and the vehicle documents, with the European Certificate of Conformity where available. Vehicles of European Union origin may qualify for reduced or zero import duty under the agreement between the European Union and Kosovo, provided a valid proof of origin is supplied. We check the current requirements with you and your customs agent before you commit.

  • Absolutely. We regularly supply multiple vehicles to municipalities, waste companies and contractors. We help you plan the right mix of tippers, hooklifts, containers, refuse collection vehicles and support units, so the fleet covers your work across the year rather than being idle for part of it. We can phase delivery to match a budget cycle or a project programme, and we coordinate bodybuilding, documentation and transport for the whole fleet. You have one point of contact throughout, and we remain available for additions and replacements.
