Trucks for Sale in Moldova: 4x4 Refrigerated Trucks and 6x4 Vehicles for Agricultural Transport

Looking for reliable vehicles to move agricultural products in Moldova? You might collect apples and plums from orchards in the north, bring grapes from Codru and Ștefan Vodă to the winery, run refrigerated loads of table grapes and berries towards the European Union, or haul grain and sunflower from the fields to the elevators around Bălți and Chișinău. In each case, Schaften Automotive is your European partner for trucks, commercial vehicles and complete fleet solutions. From our headquarters in the Netherlands, we supply 4x4 refrigerated trucks and 6x4 vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO and other leading European brands, with bodies built to your specifications. We arrange everything from A to Z, including delivery to your yard in Moldova.

More Than a Supplier: Your Sparring Partner from A to Z

Agricultural transport in Moldova starts where the asphalt ends. The orchards, vineyards and fields are reached by local and unclassified roads, and in the weeks that matter most, during harvest and after autumn rain, those roads turn to the heavy black mud that comes with Moldovan chernozem. A truck that cannot reach the loading point is not a transport problem, it is a harvest problem: fruit that waits is fruit that loses value.

The product adds its own pressure. Table grapes, apples, plums, cherries and berries have to be cooled quickly and held at a stable temperature, through summers that regularly pass thirty degrees and across a journey that may continue into the European Union. Winters bring frost and snow, which matters both for access and for protecting produce from freezing on the way.

That is why we don’t start from a catalogue. We start by understanding your operation: what you carry and in what season, where you load and where you deliver, the condition of the roads to your collection points, the temperatures you need to hold and for how long, and whether the vehicle crosses a border. Based on that, we advise you on drivetrain, body, cooling unit and equipment. Once you have decided, we take care of the rest: bodybuilding, documentation, customs support and delivery. You have one point of contact for everything.

4x4 Refrigerated Trucks: Cold Chain That Reaches the Field

A refrigerated truck is only useful if it can get to the produce. A 4x4 chassis with reduction gearing, differential locks, good ground clearance and a short wheelbase reaches orchards, vineyards, packing sheds and farm yards that a standard reefer simply cannot, especially in the weeks when the harvest will not wait for the weather.

What They Do

  • Collection from orchards and vineyards during harvest, bringing produce to the cold store or packing house within hours of picking.
  • Supply to packing and sorting facilities, where fast turnaround and a stable temperature decide the grade your fruit achieves.
  • Delivery to local markets, retailers and processors, including the smaller access points in towns and villages.
  • Dairy, meat and processed food distribution on rural rounds.
  • Year-round use, because a 4x4 that collects fruit in September is still the vehicle that gets through in February.

How We Specify the Refrigerated Body

  • Cooling unit with enough reserve capacity for summer ambient temperatures and for frequent door openings during collection rounds.
  • Insulation thickness matched to your journey length and to whether you are chilling, holding or carrying frozen product.
  • Multi-temperature compartments where you carry different products in one trip.
  • Air circulation and ducting suited to palletised loads, crates or loose produce.
  • Interior finish that is hygienic and easy to clean, with the right floor and wall protection for crates and forklifts.
  • Loading equipment including tail lifts, side doors and reinforced floors, chosen for how you actually load in a farm yard rather than on a dock.
  • Temperature recording, which is essential for export loads and increasingly expected by buyers in the European Union.

We supply 4x4 chassis such as the Mercedes-Benz Atego 4x4 and Zetros, the MAN TGM 4x4 and the IVECO Daily 4x4 and Eurocargo 4x4, depending on the payload and the access you need.

6x4 Trucks: Volume for Grain, Fruit and Bulk

Where the job is volume rather than access, a 6x4 gives you payload within the legal axle limits plus the traction to pull away loaded on a field track or a wet ramp.

Typical Configurations

  • Grain tippers and bulk bodies for wheat, maize, barley and sunflower, moving from the field to the elevator and on to the port or the border.
  • Tipping bodies for fruit and vegetables destined for processing, including apples for juice and plums for drying.
  • Curtainsiders and flatbeds for bagged goods, crates, pallets, fertiliser and packaging.
  • Livestock bodies for farms and processors.
  • Larger refrigerated bodies for consolidated loads moving towards the border or the capital.
  • Tipping trailer combinations, where a 6x4 tractor unit and a tipping trailer give you far more payload per trip on longer hauls.

We supply 6x4 chassis such as the Mercedes-Benz Actros and Arocs, the MAN TGS and the IVECO X-Way, specified for mixed on and off road work rather than pure motorway running.

Building a Fleet That Works All Year

Moldovan agriculture is seasonal, and that is the hardest part of fleet planning here. A vehicle bought purely for the grape harvest stands still for eight months of the year. We go through the calendar with you: which products move when, where the peaks overlap, and where one vehicle can cover two seasons if it is specified for it.

Often the answer is a small number of flexible vehicles rather than a large number of specialised ones. A 4x4 with a refrigerated body collects fruit in late summer and distributes food in winter. A 6x4 with a tipping body carries grain in July and construction material or firewood in the off season. That is the kind of thinking that decides whether a fleet is an asset or a cost, and it is where we try to be useful before anything is ordered.

Specified for Moldovan Conditions

We adapt the vehicles to where they will work:

  • mud and field access: traction, ground clearance, tyre choice and protected underbody components for black soil roads after rain;
  • summer heat: cooling capacity with reserve, insulation and cab air conditioning;
  • winter: cold-start provisions, a parking heater, suitable tyres and chain provision, plus protection against freezing for sensitive produce;
  • road surfaces: reinforced suspension and components for secondary and unclassified roads;
  • corrosion: protection against road salt and the humidity of a working farm environment;
  • emission class: chosen with local import requirements and with access to the European Union in mind if the vehicle crosses the border;
  • serviceability: component choices for which parts and support are realistically available, and a specification your own mechanic can maintain.

Beyond Agriculture: The Rest of the Fleet

Through the same point of contact we can also arrange:

  • tractor units and trailers for international haulage into the European Union and the wider region;
  • tankers for wine, juice, milk, fuel and water;
  • tippers and construction vehicles for farm infrastructure, roads and rural works;
  • crane trucks and flatbeds for machinery, pallets and materials;
  • workshop and service vehicles for your own maintenance operation;
  • municipal vehicles for local authorities and rural service providers.

Because we deliver everything through one point of contact, you can combine several vehicle types in one order and one planning.

Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO & More

Our range covers the leading European commercial vehicle brands:

  • Mercedes-Benz: the Atego for collection and distribution, the Actros and Arocs for heavier work, and the Zetros for the most difficult access.
  • MAN: the TGM for medium duty and the TGS for heavy and mixed work.
  • IVECO: the Daily 4x4 and Eurocargo for access and distribution, and the X-Way for bulk and site work.
  • Scania: a popular choice for haulage and heavy transport.

Other brands are available on request. Moldova drives on the right, so European left-hand-drive vehicles are a natural fit, and the major European brands are represented in the region with service networks. Not sure which configuration suits your work best? We compare the options with you objectively, based on your products, your routes and your season.

How We Arrange Your Purchase from A to Z

Step 1: Consultation and Seasonal Review

We discuss your products, volumes, harvest calendar, collection points, road conditions, temperature requirements, delivery destinations and budget. As your sparring partner, we look at the whole year rather than one harvest, and we point out where one vehicle can do two jobs.

Step 2: Selection and Configuration

We select suitable 4x4 and 6x4 chassis from our stock or through our European network and specify the refrigerated or bulk bodies with our bodybuilders. You receive a clear proposal with specifications, pricing and planning. Before you commit, we check with you which import and registration requirements apply.

Step 3: Bodybuilding and Technical Preparation

The refrigerated body, cooling unit, tipping body or other equipment is built and mounted by specialised European bodybuilders, following the chassis manufacturer’s guidelines. We oversee quality and planning and can arrange an inspection or share progress photos before completion.

Step 4: Export Documentation and Customs Support

We prepare the export declaration and transport documents and supply the vehicle documents and, where applicable, the European Certificate of Conformity. We also provide proof of EU origin where it applies, which can reduce import duties under the agreement between the European Union and Moldova. We coordinate with your customs broker so clearance runs smoothly.

Step 5: Delivery to Moldova

Moldova is reachable overland from the European Union, so vehicles are normally delivered by road through Romania, driven on temporary export plates or carried on a truck transporter. We time deliveries around your season where we can, because a reefer that arrives after the harvest has missed its first year of work. We keep you informed until each unit arrives.

Preparing for the Next Harvest?

Tell us what you grow or carry, where you collect it and where it goes. Our specialists will advise you on the right combination of vehicles and bodies and prepare a clear proposal including delivery, with no obligation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trucks for Sale in Moldova

  • We supply chassis from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO and other leading European brands. For 4x4 refrigerated work that includes the Mercedes-Benz Atego 4x4 and Zetros, the MAN TGM 4x4 and the IVECO Daily 4x4 and Eurocargo 4x4. For 6x4 bulk and volume work that includes the Actros, Arocs, MAN TGS and IVECO X-Way. We combine these with refrigerated bodies and cooling units, grain and tipping bodies, curtainsiders, flatbeds and livestock bodies from specialised European manufacturers.

  • Because of where you load. A standard refrigerated truck is built for a paved road and a loading dock. In a Moldovan harvest, you are often loading in an orchard, a vineyard or a farm yard reached by an unpaved road that has just had rain, and the heavy black soil here does not forgive a two-wheel-drive vehicle with a full load. A 4x4 with reduction gearing and differential locks reaches the produce and gets it out. If all your loading points are on good roads, we will tell you honestly that a standard reefer is the better buy.

  • We start from the product, the journey and the way you load. Chilling freshly picked fruit needs very different capacity from holding an already cooled load, and a collection round with frequent door openings is far harder on a unit than a single long haul. From there we look at insulation thickness, air circulation, multi-temperature compartments if you carry different products together, and temperature recording, which is essential for export loads. We also check that the unit can hold temperature at the summer ambient temperatures you actually work in, not at a laboratory figure.

  • Moldova is reachable overland from the European Union, so vehicles are normally delivered by road through Romania, either driven on temporary export plates or carried on a truck transporter. For the import you will need a commercial invoice, transport documents, the export declaration and the vehicle documents, with the European Certificate of Conformity where available. Vehicles of European Union origin may qualify for reduced or zero import duty under the agreement between the European Union and Moldova, provided a valid proof of origin is supplied. Age and emission requirements may apply to imported vehicles, so we check the current rules with you and your customs broker before you commit.

  • Yes, and we think that is the most useful thing we do here. Moldovan agriculture is strongly seasonal, and the easiest mistake is to buy a vehicle for one peak and let it stand for the rest of the year. We go through the calendar with you, look at where the peaks overlap and where they do not, and recommend a combination of vehicles and bodies that stays productive across the year. We can also phase delivery so vehicles arrive before the season they are bought for, rather than after it.
