Trucks for Sale in Nigeria: Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO & More

Looking for reliable trucks for sale in Nigeria? You might run a distribution company in Lagos, supply oil and gas operations around Port Harcourt, or need a fleet of tankers to move fuel across the country. In each case, Schaften Automotive is your European partner for trucks, commercial vehicles and complete fleet solutions. From our headquarters in the Netherlands, we supply Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO, Scania and other leading European brands to customers throughout Nigeria, from Lagos and Port Harcourt to Abuja, Kano and Warri. We arrange everything from A to Z, so you receive a truck that is ready for work.

More Than a Supplier: Your Sparring Partner from A to Z

Buying a truck for Nigeria involves more than choosing a brand. The south has high humidity, heavy rainfall and roads that can flood or deteriorate quickly in the rainy season. The north is hot and dry, with harmattan dust for several months a year. In Lagos, trucks spend long hours in dense traffic and port congestion. The axle configuration, engine, cooling, filtration and body make the difference between a truck that keeps running and one that spends time in the workshop. That is why we start by understanding your operation: what you transport, which routes you drive and how intensively your vehicles are used. Based on that, we advise you on the configuration that gives you the best value over the long term.

Once you have made your choice, we take care of the rest. That includes custom bodybuilding, technical modifications, export documentation, transport within Europe and international shipping to Nigeria. You have one point of contact for the entire process, so you can focus on your business while we handle the details. Our stock of European A-brand trucks changes continuously, which means we can often offer short lead times.

Which Trucks Does Nigeria Need? Solutions per Sector

Nigeria has the largest population in Africa and one of its largest economies. Oil and gas, fuel distribution, logistics, agriculture, construction and mining all create strong demand for commercial vehicles. Below you'll find the truck types our customers in Nigeria ask for most often.

Oil, Gas and Fuel Distribution: From the Niger Delta to Every State

Nigeria is one of Africa's largest oil producers, with most activity concentrated in the Niger Delta around Port Harcourt, Warri and Bonny. New refining capacity near Lagos is changing fuel supply routes, and almost all petroleum products are distributed by road tanker. For this work, we supply tractor units such as the Mercedes-Benz Actros, MAN TGX and Scania R-series, combined with fuel tankers. Oil and gas operations also need heavy 6x4 and 6x6 tractor units for equipment transport, crane trucks, vacuum trucks and water tankers.

Logistics and Distribution: Lagos Ports and the Main Trade Routes

The ports of Apapa, Tin Can Island and the new Lekki Deep Sea Port make Lagos the logistics centre of West Africa. Goods travel from there along busy routes to Ibadan, Abuja, Kano and the east. Container transport and long-distance haulage call for reliable tractor units with good fuel economy and comfortable cabins, such as the Scania R-series, MAN TGX, Mercedes-Benz Actros and IVECO S-Way. For the distribution of food, beverages and consumer goods in Lagos, Abuja and other cities, we supply medium-duty trucks such as the IVECO Eurocargo, MAN TGM and Mercedes-Benz Atego, which combine payload with manoeuvrability in busy traffic.

Agriculture and Food: From the Northern Farmlands to City Markets

Agriculture employs a large part of the population. Maize, rice, sorghum and livestock come mainly from the north, around Kano, Kaduna and Kebbi. Cassava, cocoa and palm oil are produced in the south. Moving harvests to processing plants and city markets requires grain trucks, curtainsiders and flatbeds for bagged goods, livestock carriers and tippers. Refrigerated trucks are essential for frozen fish, poultry and dairy. We supply the chassis and have the right body built to your specifications.

Construction, Cement and Infrastructure

Major projects such as new coastal and national highways, bridges, rail lines and large housing developments in Lagos and Abuja create strong demand for construction vehicles. Nigeria is also one of Africa's largest cement producers, which adds demand for bulk cement tankers and heavy tractor units. Construction sites need 8x4 and 6x4 tippers such as the Mercedes-Benz Arocs, MAN TGS and IVECO X-Way or T-Way, as well as concrete mixers, low-loaders for excavators and graders, and truck-mounted cranes. We configure these vehicles for heavy use in both the rainy and the dry season.

Mining, Quarries and Solid Minerals

Nigeria is developing its solid minerals sector, with limestone, granite, gold and lithium among the key resources. Quarries around the major cities supply aggregates for the construction boom. Trucks in this sector must work in dust, mud and on unpaved haul roads. Popular choices are heavy 8x4 and 6x4 tippers, complemented by water bowsers, fuel trucks and mobile workshop vehicles. For remote sites, we supply all-wheel-drive trucks such as the Mercedes-Benz Zetros.

Mercedes-Benz, MAN, IVECO, Scania & More

Our range covers the leading European commercial vehicle brands:

  • Mercedes-Benz: the Actros, Arocs, Atego and off-road Zetros, known for their durability.
  • MAN: the TGX, TGS, TGM and TGL, with strong drivetrains for heavy work.
  • IVECO: the S-Way, X-Way, T-Way, Eurocargo and Daily, covering everything from light vans to heavy construction trucks.
  • Scania: a popular choice for long-distance transport.

Other brands are available on request. Nigeria drives on the right and only allows left-hand-drive vehicles to be imported, so European left-hand-drive trucks are the natural choice. Not sure which brand or model suits your operation best? We compare the options with you objectively, based on your application, budget and service requirements.

Configured and Built for Nigerian Conditions

Heavy rains, high humidity, poor road surfaces, harmattan dust and long hours in city traffic put extra strain on any vehicle. We help you choose the right specifications, including:

  • the right axle configuration, extra ground clearance and reinforced suspension;
  • corrosion protection for the humid coastal areas around Lagos and the Niger Delta;
  • heavy-duty air filtration and an upgraded cooling system;
  • air conditioning for driver comfort in traffic and on long routes;
  • a suitable tyre choice and an engine configuration suited to local diesel quality.

Through our network of European bodybuilders, we can deliver tippers, tankers, refrigerated bodies, crane installations and other specialised builds. Your truck leaves Europe fully prepared for the job it has to do in Nigeria.
