MAN Chassis for Sale in Serbia: 6x4 and 8x4 for Specialised Bodywork

Serbia has a strong bodybuilding industry. Tippers, cranes, hooklifts, tankers, mixers, refuse bodies, firefighting equipment and specialised municipal and industrial vehicles are all built here, often to a standard and at a price that is hard to match elsewhere in Europe. What Serbian bodybuilders need is a steady supply of the right chassis, specified properly, delivered on time and with complete documentation. That is what we do. From our headquarters in the Netherlands, Schaften Automotive supplies MAN 6x4 and 8x4 chassis to bodybuilders, dealers and end users in Serbia, specified for the body that is going on them. We arrange everything from A to Z, including delivery to your workshop.

More Than a Supplier: Your Sparring Partner from A to Z

Buying a chassis for bodywork is a different exercise from buying a finished truck. A chassis that looks right on paper can be the wrong chassis once the body is on it, and by then the mistake is expensive. The wheelbase determines where your subframe and equipment sit. The frame overhang determines whether a crane or a hooklift fits without modification. The power take-off has to match what your equipment needs in terms of torque, speed and whether it works while driving. The electrical architecture decides how cleanly your controls integrate. The chassis height, the air suspension, the exhaust routing and the position of the tanks and the AdBlue system all take up space that your body also wants.

On top of that, a body changes the vehicle’s weight distribution, and a chassis that was within axle limits empty can be outside them loaded if the body is mounted wrong.

That is why we don’t just sell chassis off a list. We start by understanding what is going on the chassis: the body type, its weight and its centre of gravity, the equipment it drives, the working conditions and the legal weights you have to stay within. Based on that, we advise you on wheelbase, frame, axle configuration, power take-off, electrical preparation and suspension. Once you have decided, we take care of the rest: sourcing, documentation, customs support and delivery to your workshop. You have one point of contact for the entire process.

MAN 6x4 and 8x4 Chassis

The MAN Range for Bodywork

  • MAN TGS is the workhorse for construction and specialised bodywork, available in 6x4 and 8x4 with a wide choice of wheelbases, frame strengths and suspension arrangements. It is the natural base for tippers, mixers, hooklifts, cranes and tankers.
  • MAN TGX suits heavier road-oriented applications and long-distance work where cab comfort matters.
  • MAN TGM covers lighter specialised bodies in the medium weight class.
  • All-wheel-drive versions are available for bodies that have to work off the sealed network.

MAN is a popular base among bodybuilders for practical reasons: a wide range of wheelbases and frame options, well-documented bodybuilder guidelines and chassis drawings, accessible power take-off and electrical interfaces, and a service network across Serbia and the region. Our stock changes continuously and we also source through our European network, so we can usually find the specification you need rather than the one that happens to be available.

6x4 or 8x4

A 6x4 gives you two driven rear axles with good manoeuvrability and a shorter overall length, which suits cranes, mixers, hooklifts, tankers and tippers where access and turning circle matter.

An 8x4 adds a second steering front axle, which raises the permitted gross weight and lets you carry a heavier body and payload within the legal axle limits. It is the usual choice for heavy tippers, large mixers, big crane installations and anything where payload per trip decides your cost per tonne.

We go through the arithmetic with you, because the right answer depends on the body weight, the payload and the axle limits you have to work within, not on a preference.

Specifying the Chassis for the Body

This is where the value sits, and where we spend most of our time with bodybuilders.

Dimensions and Frame

  • Wheelbase chosen for the body length and for where the load sits, which determines your axle loads far more than the body itself does.
  • Frame overhang, specified or modified so the body, crane or hooklift fits without cutting or extending the frame on arrival.
  • Frame strength and inner frame reinforcement, matched to the stresses your body and equipment impose.
  • Chassis height and suspension, where a lower build matters for stability with a high body, and air suspension matters for hooklifts and container work.
  • Clearance for tanks, exhaust, AdBlue and battery box, planned before the chassis is ordered rather than discovered when the subframe goes on.

Drivetrain and Power Take-Off

  • Power take-off type, whether engine-driven, gearbox-driven or clutch-dependent, matched to what your equipment needs.
  • Torque and speed at the take-off point, specified for the pump or system that will be driven.
  • Operation while driving, which matters for sprayers, sweepers, mixers and pumps and which has to be specified at order.
  • Engine power and axle ratios for the loaded weight and the gradients the finished vehicle will work on.
  • Retarder or engine brake for heavy bodies on hilly routes.

Electrical and Control Interfaces

  • Bodybuilder electrical interfaces for integrating your controls, lighting and safety systems cleanly rather than with improvised wiring.
  • Parameterisation of functions such as speed limitation during operation, engine speed control and door or body signals.
  • Preparation for cameras, beacons, working lights and additional circuits.

Weights and Legal Compliance

  • Axle load calculation before ordering, so the finished vehicle is legal loaded and not just empty.
  • Centre of gravity limits for the body and payload.
  • Documentation so the finished vehicle can be registered without a dispute at the inspection.

Typical Bodies Built on These Chassis in Serbia

  • Tippers in a range of volumes for construction, quarry and agricultural work.
  • Hooklifts and skip loaders for waste management, recycling and municipal services.
  • Truck-mounted cranes combined with flatbeds and dropside bodies.
  • Concrete mixers and bulk cement tankers.
  • Tankers for fuel, water, milk, chemicals and industrial liquids.
  • Refuse collection bodies, sweepers and municipal equipment.
  • Firefighting and rescue vehicles, where chassis specification and weight distribution are critical.
  • Vacuum and sewer cleaning units.
  • Specialised industrial and utility bodies, including workshop vehicles, aerial platforms and recovery equipment.

Why Buy Chassis Through Schaften Automotive

  • Specification before purchase. We work out the chassis specification with you against the body, rather than selling you something and leaving you to adapt it.
  • Access to the European market. We source from our own stock and through our European network, which gives you access to specifications that are not readily available locally.
  • Volume and continuity. For bodybuilders who need several chassis a year, we can supply consistently rather than one opportunistic find at a time.
  • Complete documentation. You receive the vehicle documents and the European Certificate of Conformity, which is what your customer needs for registration.
  • Delivery to your workshop. We bring the chassis to you, by road from the Netherlands.
  • One point of contact. From specification through to delivery and the next order.

Beyond MAN Chassis

We also supply other European brands where that suits you better, including Mercedes-Benz, IVECO, Scania, DAF and Volvo, in 6x4, 8x4, 4x2 and all-wheel-drive configurations. If you prefer to standardise on one brand for parts and service reasons, we work with that. If a particular body is better suited to a different chassis, we will say so.

We can also supply complete vehicles with the body already mounted by European bodybuilders, where that is faster or more economical than building locally. For most Serbian bodybuilders it is not, which is precisely why the chassis supply matters.

How We Arrange Your Purchase from A to Z

Step 1: Consultation on the Body

We ask what is going on the chassis: body type, weight, dimensions, centre of gravity, equipment to be driven, working conditions and legal weights. If you have the body drawings, we work from those.

Step 2: Chassis Specification and Sourcing

We translate that into a chassis specification: wheelbase, frame, overhang, axle configuration, power take-off, electrical preparation, suspension and drivetrain. Then we source it from our stock or through our European network, and give you a clear proposal with full specifications, pricing and availability.

Step 3: Preparation Before Delivery

Where useful, we arrange modifications before delivery, such as frame work, fitting of a power take-off or preparation for your equipment, through our network of European specialists. That can save your workshop days of work on arrival.

Step 4: Documentation and Customs Support

We prepare the export declaration and transport documents and supply the vehicle documents and the European Certificate of Conformity. We also provide proof of EU origin where it applies, which can reduce import duties under the agreement between the European Union and Serbia. We coordinate with your customs agent so clearance runs smoothly.

Step 5: Delivery to Your Workshop

Serbia is reachable overland from the European Union, so chassis are normally delivered by road, driven on temporary export plates or carried on a truck transporter. For multiple units we phase delivery around your build programme, so you are not storing chassis you cannot start on.

Frequently Asked Questions About MAN Chassis for Sale in Serbia

  • We supply MAN TGS, TGX and TGM chassis in 6x4, 8x4, 4x2 and all-wheel-drive configurations, in a range of wheelbases, frame strengths, suspension arrangements and power take-off options. Our stock changes continuously and we source through our European network, so if the specification you need is not on our yard we can usually find it. We also supply other European brands where that suits your build better.

  • Yes, and that is the way we prefer to work. Send us the body type, weight, dimensions and centre of gravity, the equipment that has to be driven and the legal weights you need to stay within. We translate that into wheelbase, frame overhang, frame strength, power take-off, electrical preparation and suspension, and we check the axle loads before you order rather than after the body is mounted. If you have body drawings, we work from those directly.

  • These are the two things that most often get overlooked and most often cause rework. The power take-off has to match your equipment in type, torque, speed and whether it must operate while driving, and some of that can only be specified at order. The electrical interfaces determine how cleanly your controls, lighting and safety systems integrate. We go through both with you against MAN’s bodybuilder documentation before the chassis is sourced, and where a function has to be parameterised we flag it so it is dealt with before delivery.

  • Serbia is reachable overland from the European Union, so chassis are normally delivered by road, either driven on temporary export plates or carried on a truck transporter. For the import you will need a commercial invoice, transport documents, the export declaration and the vehicle documents, with the European Certificate of Conformity. Vehicles of European Union origin may qualify for reduced or zero import duty under the agreement between the European Union and Serbia, provided a valid proof of origin is supplied. Age and emission requirements may apply to imported vehicles, so we check the current rules with you and your customs agent before you commit.

  • Yes, and for bodybuilders that is usually the most valuable part of the relationship. Rather than buying one chassis at a time when something suitable appears, we can work to your build programme and supply consistently specified chassis across the year. That makes your own planning, your subframe design and your parts stock far simpler. We are happy to agree a standard specification with you and then supply against it.
