The Mercedes-Benz Arocs 1836 AK combines a permanent 4x4 drivetrain with a purpose-built container carrier platform designed around the dimensions of a standard 20 ft ISO container.

The body has been constructed by Schaften Automotive using a heavy-duty steel support structure integrated with the truck chassis. Dedicated twistlock positions secure the container at its corner castings, creating a stable connection between vehicle and load while still allowing the container to be removed when operational requirements change.

This makes the truck particularly useful for operations where containers are used as mobile workshops, equipment stores, technical units, command centres, mobile hospitals or general cargo modules.

The body has been developed in-house by Schaften Automotive with durability, simplicity and practical field operation in mind. The structure is designed to distribute the container weight across the chassis while providing a robust mounting foundation for repeated commercial use. The integrated twistlock layout allows a standard 20 ft container to be positioned and secured directly onto the carrier platform. This creates a versatile vehicle that can work with different containerised solutions without permanently dedicating the chassis to one application. We even added a modified stair for easy entering the container if needed.

Dragon Winch 10 Ton for Recovery & Site Support

A heavy-duty Dragon Winch with a rated pulling capacity of 10 tonnes has therefore been installed at the front of the vehicle. The front-mounted winch provides additional support during challenging site operations and can be used for recovery assistance, controlled pulling operations and positioning equipment where normal vehicle traction alone may not be sufficient.

Combined with the permanent 4x4 drivetrain, differential lock and high-clearance construction chassis, the winch adds another layer of versatility for mining sites, construction areas, remote infrastructure projects and difficult-access locations.

Mercedes PowerShift 3 with PowerShift Advanced manages the 360 HP delivered by the OM460 engine, while the dedicated off-road driving programme adapts the transmission behaviour to demanding operating conditions.

Designed for Hot, Dusty & Remote Environments

This Mercedes-Benz Arocs is equipped with a cooling package for very hot regions, elevated air intake behind the cab, cyclone filter for coarse dust, construction-site filtration and an additional chassis-mounted fuel pre-filter. These factory-installed features help protect important engine and fuel-system components when the truck is operating in hot, dusty or remote environments where vehicle reliability is critical.

The steel bumper corners, towing equipment and metal headlamp protection further reinforce the vehicle's construction-focused specification.
